HiGHmed will tackle translation issues by creating three Medical Data Integration Centers (MeDICs) based on a generic and scalable reference architecture for integrating data from care, research, and external sources. The MeDICs will facilitate the development of new solutions for medical data analytics for the benefit of clinicians, patients and researchers. To support the sustainable development of the initiated measures, all of the clinical sites have committed themselves to maintaining these MeDICs, to significantly expanding their resources for education and research in Medical Informatics, partially by establishing new professorial chairs, and will consider establishing new centers for data sciences in healthcare. The clinical sites are complemented by the DKFZ, which will set up a fourth data integration center focused on the integration of omics data and its translation into clinical practice. This team of four is complemented by private and public partners, who contribute their expertise to specific parts of the consortium.
