Data save lives says Prof. Roland Eils at the Hauptstadtkongress 2019 #HSK

At the Capital Congress of Medicine and Healthcare 2019 (Hauptstadtkongress 2019) politicians, researchers and representatives from the public health care sector discussed the benefit of digitalization in the German health care system.

In his opening remarks, staunch supporter of digitalization Prof. Roland Eils emphasized that health data can improve the precision and efficiency of patient treatment, given that an exchange of data from medical care with methods and data from research is possible. However, some hurdles must still be overcome: Many data in medical care are still recorded on paper and not digitally and available data are not syntactically and semantically interoperable.

In the following discussion with the scientific leaders Prof. Dr. Axel Ekkernkamp, Hedwig François-Kettner und Prof. Heinz Lohmann, Prof. Eils clearly expressed the wish to satisfy the regulatory requirements, allowing the individual patient to share health data voluntarily and self-determinedly in a patient-oriented fashion.
